New York Public Library
The brief: create a brochure to be located at various information points throughout the city that would encourage New Yorkers to visit the library and sign up for a library card. During my research, I learned that over half of New Yorkers use public transportation so I expanded on the brief with related assets. Understanding that transit was a public service with which they were already comfortable, I incorporated actual metro map elements to the design as a bridge to getting to the library. Having spent my formative years in NYC, I know that the NYPL lion is an iconic image; I scaled it up on the cover to create immediate recognition. This brochure provides direct information about which metro lines lead to the main branch of the public library and includes a library card application.
